Friends of the four legged variety, etc.

We three girls had 3 different dogs, lizards and tiny fish at one time or another. One of the dogs contacted rabies, so we lost him. But since I was in my teen reclusive stage I did not play with the puppy and I was the only one of my family that did not have to take all those painful shots.

The guppies were probably next. But we had to be careful not to overfeed, and frequent burial at sea events were held to keep the tank from overcrowding.

When I married, no critters were allowed. When the children came along, the youngest collected small frogs, frequently showing them to the lady next door. I don't think she liked frogs.

Children grew up, left home, I divorced, and second husband eventually wanted to get a dog. So we came upon a local pet store display in town and adopted a Jack Russell. Wonderful dog. She was a good companion, and we decided to get a girl friend for her to play with. A trip to the local pound got up a newly acquired dog that needed a bath, but had beautiful eyes and was loving. Unknown health problems took her away. We had a brief time of mourning, and eventually found a new dog. She was a Chihuahua/terrier. We went to check her  out and she could run like the wind, jumped up on the couch where I sat at the owners home. She didn't stop there. She ran from one end of the owner's home to the other without ceasing. She eventually slowed down long enough for me to decide she would go home with us. She was a happy blessing. I still have her today. I think she is about 13 years old.

After my husband passed away, I moved from Dallas to Houston to be near some family. Libby has a big yard, well fenced, and a doggy door.  Then one day, a tiny schnauzer appeared in my back yard. So I cautiously went out with a big towel and wrapped the frightened puppy that Libby had "announced"  and brought her in the house.

It has been  an exciting few months to watch Libby (the senior) asserting her authority and "head dog" over the rambunctious Midnight. I just let the power play go on, I want Libby to win and she has worked hard for her seniority. Some children take a long time to respect authority.
